Deborah Ann Dupee Obituary

Deborah Ann Dupee, 84, beloved and devoted mother and nana, passed peacefully surrounded in love with her family by her side.

She was born in Sanford on June 2, 1938, the daughter of Frank H. and Carrie I. (Guptill) Bean. Deb attended schools in town and during her senior year in high school, she was needed at home and went into the workforce to help her family. She was the Valedictorian of her class at the time. As her children shared, Mom’s motto was, “Whatever you need” became synonymous with her love and caring nature.

On June 27, 1959, she married her sweetheart Robert W. Dupee at the South Waterboro Bible Chapel followed by their reception at the Waterboro Grange Hall. They loved and nurtured three children, Jodie, Kyla, and Frank. During the warm weather they gleefully went blueberry picking with their mom at the blueberry plains off route 99 and at the farm on Ossipee Hill Rd. She charged $ 50 cents a quart and in later years one dollar. She would say, “Make sure you kids pick those berries clean!” Deb kept the family home running like clockwork and maintained a generous vegetable garden.

Before the kids were born, she worked at Pioneer Plastic in Sanford, ME. After her and Bob had their first child, they moved to Waterboro, where they then had two more children. To accommodate the kids schedule, she went to work full time at Massabesic High School in the food service department. She loved being home with the kids when they had their school breaks and summer vacations.

Deborah was quite the athlete in her own right, playing basketball in school. She was a coach for the girls’ little league softball team, and she also played in a Women’s summer league. She was an avid bowler and loved the camaraderie that came from playing on the team. At home you would want her on your side when they were playing horseshoes! Her kids remember her attending their many activities and the support she showed them.

Deb and her husband could be found dancing on Saturday nights at Highland Grove or playing cribbage or a game of cards with their family and friends. She was smart and tough. You could not even attempt to beat her at Trivia Pursuit. She and Bob were thrilled to take a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii.

She was a terrific cook with her famous apple squares and mac-n-cheese, being just a couple of the kids and grandchildren’s favorite. Deb also liked to visit the casinos and had fun watching others play the slots to see if they had the winning machine.

Holidays were extra special, and they celebrated Christmas Eve at Nana’s house. She loved a full house, and you never went away hungry. As her kids shared, “Mom never missed anything in our lives.” It is only fitting that we could be with her and give her our respect and love as she was reunited with her sweetheart and our dad, her sister Kay Woodworth, who she was close to and her two brothers, Raymond and Reggie Bean.

We will miss you dearly and our hearts are full of sweet memories of having you be our Mom and Nana.

We love you and be at peace

.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Jodie K. Dyer and husband Rodney, Jr., Kyla A. Davis and husband Alan, and Frank W. Dupee, five grandchildren: Cara Ridley, Cale Dyer, Camry Andrews, Daryl DeWitt and Jenna DeWitt, eight great-grandchildren: Austin DeWitt Sirois, Evan DeWitt, Lydia Ridley, Ella Ridley, Ryan Andrews, Jr., Royce Andrews, Sydney Dyer, and Deacon Maclean, and two brothers Keith and Gordon Bean, and many nieces and nephews.
