Garry D. Harrison, age 76, of Bay City, Michigan passed away at St. Joseph Ann Arbor in Ann Arbor, Michigan on on November 28, 2022 with his family at his side.


Garry was born August 27, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico to the late AE and Susie (Wheeler) Harrison and was one of fourteen children. Garry served his country in the United States ARMY during the Vietnam War. He worked 29 years for Consumers Energy as a unit control operator at Karn 1 & 2. Garry loved NASCAR and sports, especially the Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan. He collected NASCAR and sports memorabilia, enjoyed showing his corvettes and attending car shows.


Garry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon; children, John Harrison of San Diego, California, Steven (Karen) Harrison of Sterling, Michigan; Cristy (Bob) Layman of Florida and Greg (Glenda) Harrison of Britton, Michigan; grandchildren, Brett, Hailey, Morgan, Brendan, Lauren and Brady; three great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy, Laura, Joyce, and Kathy; brothers, Charles, and Ben; sisters-in-law, Glyna, Patrice, Donna, Marlene (Leo), Shirley, and Mary; brother-in-law, Melvin; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Garry was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Ashlyn; his identical twin brother, Larry, brothers, Johnnie, Ed, Al, and Rick; sisters, Alpha and Margie.


According to Garry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of life and military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Avenue, Bay City, Michigan 48708. Garry’s family will gather with family and friends at Ambrose Funeral Home on Saturday from 1-5:00 p.m. Rev. Kellie French will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Disabled American Veterans.
