<p>Roger B. Gagnon, 86, of Cranston died at home on November 26, 2022, under VNA/Hospice care, after a long illness.</p><p><br></p><p>He was the loving husband of Ethel (Anderson) Gagnon his primary care giver and was the father of five children: Denis Gagnon of California, Annette Gagnon of North Carolina, Catherine Harrington and Angela Gagnon of Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Lea (Boulet) Gagnon and their daughter Patricia Barbera of Manville, RI. He also had four stepchildren: Timothy Spikes, Tamara Jutras, twins Raymond and Robyn Snider of RI. His family tree stretched across the country, coast to coast, with 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Roger was born, as the eldest of four children, to Emile and Elizabeth (Hebert) Gagnon. He grew up and lived in Manville, until he joined the US Navy in 1953. He retired in 1974, as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and was both a Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran. He traveled and lived in several US states and two foreign countries, throughout his military service</p><p><br></p><p>After his military career, he worked as a clerk at the US Post Office (Turnkey) in Providence until he retired again in 1996.<br></p><p>He was proudly a member of the Fleet Reserve Association for over 50 years, as well as being a member of the American Legion, Manville Sportsman Club, and the NRA.</p><p><br></p><p>He enjoyed telling dad jokes, making up riddles and tinkering. If you broke it, he could fix it. If it wasn’t broken, he would tinker with it anyway.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Mass and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Paul’s Church, 1 St Paul Place, Cranston, RI and/or VNA of Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
