Toby Smith – Kingsport, TN

Toby Christian Smith, 25, Kingsport, TN passed away, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at his residence.

Toby was born in Abingdon, VA on February 1, 1997, and is the son of Henry and Betty Smith.

He loved his family and friends and had a great love for the outdoors. Mowing and yard work were his favorite hobbies.

Toby had a heart of gold, and would do anything for others, with a passion for working on lawn mowers and old trucks.

His paternal papaw and mamaw, James and Sue Owens, and maternal mamaw, Ival Lawson, and aunt Helen (Toozie) Brummitt preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, Henry and Betty Smith, he is survived by Shannon Smith and Melissa Otte, sisters, Rebecca (Cody) Hilton, DanaLyn Smith, Samantha Gibson, and Jenna Midalof, brothers, Andy (Sherry) Smith, Marvin (Lisa) Smith, Adyen Burgess, and Dalton Gibson, special uncle, Earl Lawson, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with his lifelong friend, Kelli Tipton, and best friends, Bobby Fillers, Heath Taylor, Bobby Lawson, Eddie Spivey, and Michael Hill.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2022, at the West End Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
