Jane Fuller Hunsucker, 96, of Hickory died peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Born September 11, 1926 in Fayetteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late George Allen Fuller and Glennie Graham Fuller.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. “Pune” Hunsucker Jr. and one brother, Allen Fuller.

Jane, aka Mimi, was “a good egg” who thought every day was a gift. She saw the good in people, enjoyed the serenity of flowers, and understood the value of good old southern charm & manners. Her sense of humor was soft, yet poignant. Being a religion major, her faith was strong; yet she confessed, she was also lucky to have married the love of her life- Pune. She was wise in the way she raised three children, a passel of dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs and ducks-they all knew who was “boss.” She loved her friends from the Hickory Service League, the Prickly Fingers, bridge clubs and the DLB. Jane was a UNC fan by marriage, a “hole-in-one “golfer, and the best pecan pie baker in the world.

She is survived by three children, Cathy Hunsucker (Tony Hanson),Graham Hunsucker (Jane) all of Hickory, Charlie Hunsucker III (Dorcas) of Aurora, CO, and; four grandchildren, Ethan Hunsucker (Meleah), Anna Hunsucker, Charlie Hunsucker IV, and Zazi Hunsucker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Bob Thompson officiating.

The family would especially like to thank Jane’s wonderful caregivers: Gladys Heard, Cathryn Smith, Cathy Towery, Sandra Carson, Angie Carter, Tina Beshears, Betty Spencer, Vivian McHenry, Jewel Hudson, and Carolina Caring.

Memorials may be made to either the Family Care Center, Hickory Museum of Art, the Good Samaritan Fund at Corinth Reformed Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
