Donald T. Hundley Obituary

Donald T. Hundley, known to most of his close friends as Brother Hundley and Uncle Don, died the morning of Friday, November 25 in the company of his wife and children after an extended illness. He was 87, born May 9, 1935 in Danville, Virginia.

Mr. Hundley was a graduate from Virginia Tech in Electrical Engineering. He was a co-op student while there and did his training at Delco in Dayton, OH and with the U.S. Army. He then worked with the National Security Agency and Philco-Ford Corp where he worked for the military and traveled worldwide. Subsequently Mr. Hundley had his own business till the beginning of his health issue in 1997, building Herman’s Sporting Goods Stores and Louise’s Trattoria Restaurants among other commercial and residential projects, but his greatest love was the ministry as one of Jehovah’s Christian Witnesses since his ordination in 1972.

He served as the Secretary of the Fairview Village Congregation for about 15 years, moving to WEST Congregation in Norristown as the Presiding Overseer until 2007. He also was the Circuit Assembly Overseer for Circuit PA-13B, Secretary & Treasurer on the Assembly Hall Committee for the Buckingham Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and worked with the original Hospital Liaison & Regional Building Committees as well as the District Convention staff. He was well known in the Norristown territories as a preacher of the Kingdom Good News that served as the theme of Jesus Christ’s ministry.

He was the son of the late Lillian E. Hundley and Robert T. Hundley of Danville, VA and was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Barr of Richmond. He was tremendously influenced throughout his childhood by his aunt and uncle, Bernice and Floyd Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Nancy W. Hundley, son, Sanford and Rhonda of Trooper, son, Floyd and Kathy of Lansdale, daughter, Susan and Jules Riehs of Collegeville, daughter, Diana and Joe Sosnowski of Blue Bell; a granddaughter, Amanda Hundley; and two grandsons, Jules & Christian Riehs. He considered as extended family, Maria S. Williams of Norristown, PA, Charline Philippeaux of Arizona, and those in his beloved WEST Congregation because of the great mutual Christian love that existed between them.

A memorial service is being arranged by Brother John Byrd, and date and time will be announced at the Jehovah’s Witnesses WEST Congregation in Norristown, PA.
