NEW BEDFORD-Norma V. (DeSilva) Souza, 89, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family following a period of declining health. She was the widow of former New Bedford police officer Raymond Souza and daughter of the late Francis H. DeSilva and Delia (Alfonso) Sylvia.

Born in Devonshire, Bermuda, she relocated to New Bedford in 1944.

Mrs. Souza was employed as a bookkeeper at Anderson & Olsen Oil Company until her retirement.

She was an avid fan of the Boston sports teams including the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed watching the news and loved to gamble.

Her family includes her 2 daughters, Janice E. Serrano and her husband, Luis of New Bedford and Donna M. Reilly and her husband, T.J. Of Dartmouth; her brother, Glenn Sylvia; her sister, Carol Walsh; 3 grandchildren, Jenna Reilly and her husband, Bryan Smith, Alexandra Leone and her husband, Jayson and Thomas Reilly, IV; 3 step-grandchildren, Berenice Serrano, Luis Serrano, Jr. and Josiah Serrano and his wife, Shanti; 4 great-grandchildren, Rosalie Smith, Jude Smith, Gianna Leone and James Leone; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Eva Serrano, Jeremiah Serrano and Ava Serrano; a nephew, Dennis Walsh; a niece, Nancy Sayles; great-nieces and nephews, Kathryn Loo, Andrew Sayles, Teagan Walsh and Hadley Walsh and a great-great-niece, Olivia Loo.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.
