Leeann Murdock passed away peacefully in her sleep early Thursday, 24th of November 2022 after years of battling colon cancer.

She was born to Lois and the late William Fleischman in Long Island, New York, where she grew-up as the eldest alongside her siblings Lois (Po) and Billy.

Many will know Leeann from her varied involvement and ever-expanding network of cherished friends and loved ones that spans from Hickory to all corners of the world. Over her lifetime, she worked as a registered nurse, healthcare consultant and contract manager, as well as a full-time mother of three. Leeann was consistently active in her free time: constantly engaging in everything from school PTAs and her children’s sports to various social clubs – and even hosting the occasional Mardi Gras party. Above all else, she was a genuine, kind, loving soul who would never hesitate to put the needs of others above herself. Leeann is survived by her loving husband Kirk Murdock and her three children — Zachary, Kyle, and Gillian.

If you would like to join us in mourning her passing, there will be an open viewing at the Bass-Smith Funeral home today, Tuesday, 29th of November, 2022 from 12:30 through 3pm.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Hickory with the Rev. Heather Davis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, gifts, or offerings, the family kindly asks that you donate to the Discovery Fund for the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist to continue the fight against cancer in Leeann’s memory.
