<p>A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Grover Whatley, 83, of Alexandria, will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Edgemont Cemetery in Anniston. Per the family’s wishes there will be no public visitation prior to the service. Rev. Kevin Free will be officiating.</p><p>Mr. Whatley died on Thursday, November 24, 2022.</p><p>Preceding Mr. Whatley in death are his wife, Evelyn Whatley; his parents, Sylvester and Genova Whatley; and his children, Bryan, Bruce, Regina, and Twanda.</p><p>Left to cherish the memory of Mr. Whatley are his beloved grandchildren, Jordan (Jamie) Whatley, Emma Whatley, Veronica (David) Martin, and Lucas Chaney; three adored great-grandchildren; and three siblings, William (Kay) Whatley, Betty Sikorski, and Joyce Braxton.</p><p>Mr. Whatley was a loving and kind man who adored his family, especially his grandchildren. He would shine like a beam of light anytime he could see a baby, and nothing made him happier than to spend time with his grandchildren. In his spare time, Mr. Whatley enjoyed gardening, cheering on the infamous ROLL TIDE, and watching NASCAR. His collection of NASCAR memorabilia was like no other and he acquired many tokens of his favorite pastime over the years. Mr. Whatley was also an infamous genealogist, digging and seeking familial information over decades of his family’s history. One could say that his findings were exquisite and if any family member had questions of their heritage Mr. Whatley was their “go-to guy”. Above all, he will be greatly missed and forever remembered for the amazing and supportive man he was.</p><p><br></p>
