David Brian Vandiver was born February 19, 1954, in Dallas, TX to Bill and Jenell Vandiver and passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2022. He was 68 years old.

David was truly a man after God’s heart. He loved the Lord and lived his daily life trying to emulate all that is Christ like. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and anyone who knew him saw that in him. Psalm 25 has key verses that are a reminder of who David was “O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!....Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” David touched many lives and will be missed beyond measure. Those who saw the beauty and love in him will continue to be an extension of that love throughout the remainder of our days. His absence will be felt every moment of every day. While hearts are broken here on earth, we know David was welcomed home as a good and faithful servant by our Lord.

David was a veteran of the Air Force and a Master Mason. He retired from Lockheed Martin after a 33 year career and immediately set in to living the second part of his life working with cattle and tending to his small ranch. David was very active in the Cowboy Church of Ellis County where he supported the Team Roping ministry and served as a Lay Pastor for the church. He was always willing to help anyone with anything without even being asked. He had such a giving and selfless heart. He and Cindy also traveled extensively, lived life to the fullest and were blessed by many memories, individually and with family. When one of the grandchildren were told that Pepaw was gone, his reaction was that he was in heaven walking streets of gold with Jesus wearing a white robe and he was happy, and that we should be happy too that he was there. He is absolutely right. We thank God for the gift of David in our lives and we count ourselves so blessed by having such a beautiful man to love and to love us for the time that we did.

He is preceded in death by his father Bill Vandiver, mother Jenell Vandiver, and son Lincoln Vandiver.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Vandiver; sister, Pam Halvorsen (Frank Halvorsen); son, Justin Vandiver (Tina Moreno); stepson, Jimmy Hatcher (April Hatcher); stepson, Michael Hatcher (Lauren Hatcher); daughter, Cora Taylor (Ryan Taylor); stepson, Symon Biegel (Sarah Biegel); and his grandchildren Wyatt, Avyee, Brooklyn, Declan, Bodynn, Alayna, Ryan Scott, and Baylin.

Services will be held Friday, December 9th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Cowboy Church of Ellis County. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, the Dallas 24 Hour Club, or a ministry of your choice.
