Shirley Jeanne Smotherman, age 76, of Wooster, formerly of Rittman and Sterling, died Thursday morning, November 24, 2022, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, following a period of declining health.

She was born on October 11, 1946, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to the late Alphus and Erma (Gates) Smotherman and worked at Midwest Innovations.

Jeanne loved getting her hair done, getting her nails done, and wearing jewelry. One of her favorite lines was telling the staff at Midwest to “make her beautiful.” She also enjoyed eating pizza, coloring with staff, and spending time with her many friends at Midwest.  

In the last year, many of Jeannie’s dreams were able to come true. She went to the beach, met a very handsome man and got engaged and loved him with all of her heart. She had a radiating personality and anyone that knew Jeannie fell in love with her immediately.

She is survived by her special friend Charlie and many other friends and coworkers at Midwest.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Gaborsky.

Friends may call from 5-7pm on Monday, November 28th at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman.

Private burial will be at Rittman Cemetery at a later date.
