Shirley Mae Pecsi Obituary

Shirley Mae Pecsi (Osborne-Haun) was born on June 13, 1933, to Frank and Gladys (Ely) Osborne in Oneida, New York.  When she was two years old her dad drove the family, with all five children in the rumble seat, from upstate New York to Mishawaka, Indiana to start a job at the new Dodge facility there.

Shirley grew up going to the Twin Branch Bible Church and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1952.  She fiercely loved her brothers and sisters, her nieces, and nephews, then her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.   She was a faithful long-time member of the First Christian Church in Mishawaka.

She worked for many years as an assistant teacher for Headstart, loving each and every child who was in her class, remembering all their names and their parents’ names.  In 1985, she started working at Crown International until she retired due to health issues.

In 1997, she married Stephen Pecsi at First Christian Church in Mishawaka after which they traveled, enjoyed being grandparents, and taking care of her mother.  Her favorite past times were drinking coffee, eating chocolate, reading books, watching Wheel of Fortune, sewing and crafts when she was younger, taking and printing out photos of all of us, driving, and visiting with family and friends.

She went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully, after fighting a long health battle, at Bell Tower, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, with family by her side.

She is survived by her children; Mike (Amy) Haun and Cindy (Ed) Bonczynski; grandchildren, Ed (Kayti) Bonczynski, Jessica (Adam) Warner, Meisha, Madison, and Brady Haun great grandchildren, Tiffany and Sammy Bonczynski, Flynn and Sarah Warner; and her sister-in-law, Joan Osborne, along with a whole host of nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Stephen Pecsi; and her siblings, Dick and Juanita Osborne, Dorothy and Howard Whaley, Jean and Bill Thomas, and Bob Osborne.  She missed them all deeply as we will miss her.
