Frederick L. Peterson Obituary

Frederick Lamar Peterson, most affectionally known as “Fred” was born August 23, 1966

to Fred A. Peterson and Mary Brown in Panama City, FL. Fred departed from his earthly life and entered into his rest with our Lord on November 21, 2022 at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center.

Fred was a graduate of Rutherford High School, ‘Class of 1984’ and attended the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. After completing one year at the University, God’s plans for his life changed and led him to join the United States Marine Corp with his best friend, Mike. Fred became a Lance Corporal and completed two tours of duty when he began to have health issues. In 1989, he was Honorably Discharged with 100% total disability. Even though he was classified as disabled, he never let it stop him from believing that with “God ALL things are possible” and possible they truly turned out to be.

In the summer of 1994, Fred was doing training at the VA Rehab Center of the Blind in Birmingham, AL. While there he met who is now, his beautiful African Queen, Mrs. Beverly A. Peterson. He left the facility, but stayed in touch with her and made his first visit to Louisville, KY to visit his future wifey and on February 14, 1996, yes, Valentine’s Day he proposed and she said YES and they were married June 15, 1996, celebrating 26 years of marital bliss.

Fred confessed his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized by Pastor Jackson E. Jones at the St. John Baptist Church in Panama City, FL. In 1997 and his marriage to his beautiful queen, they were added to the Body of Believers at Bates. From 1999-2012, Fred and Beverly started the Couples Ministry, which is still very active today. In 2002, Fred became a Deacon and served faithfully until his health began to get more severe. In 2013-2020, Fred and Beverly started Bates Disability Ministry which Fred served as the Chaplin and his wife Beverly was the Ministry Leader.

Fred was an avid chess player and he also enjoyed playing spades, UNO and Scrabble, which his Queen said, “I beat him everytime.” But out of all the things Fred loved and cherished the most was his love for the Lord and his Word. He was a charter member of the Revelation Bible Study Ministry and a great asset to the group with his input, wisdom and knowledge of the Word, not taking anything from the LOVE he cherished and shared with his Queen. Fred knew the importance and necessity of putting God first because he was a man of order, integrity and EXCELLENCE!

Fred is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Brown and two beloved man’s best friend, Peter and Algin.

Fred leaves to honor and cherish his memories and legacy his Nubian Queen, Beverly A. Peterson; father, Fred A. Patterson (Jeanett); sisters, Alice Clark, Cynthia Fuller (Joe), Gail Peterson; brothers, Wayne Peterson (Donna), Greg Peterson, Johnathan F. Peterson, Shawn Peterson, Eric Morris; a host of In-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and church family. Fred and Beverly have three adopted children who they love and know, they will be there ready, willing and able to do whatever need to be done, daughter, Manetta C. Lemkheitir; sons, Theodore “Teddy” Young, Maurice Hobbs and two of man’s best friend, Ms. Patti Snowflake and Mighty Booker.
