Marion D. Kearney Obituary

Marion D. Kearney, 91, of Dunmore, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late David “Spike” (Buddy) Kearney. The couple had been married for 42 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Carmel Casciano Carrescia. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and prior to retirement she worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

Marion loved life and her family.  She never missed an opportunity to go out and have fun attending just about every St. Patrick’s Day parade, Italian Festival, Christmas shopping trip with the girls, or just going for breakfast every Saturday morning (a tradition started with Spike and continued after his passing by Susan).  She was the only person that could be ready to go for a drink at a moment’s notice at any time of day and loved a boat ride on Newton Lake. The comments by her kids before any family function started with “Who’s picking up Mom”.  She definitely was the life of the party.

Surviving are daughters, Susan Balducci and husband Sam, Jefferson Township, Linda Piasecki and husband Joe, Madison Township. Sons, David M. Kearney and wife Tami, Dunmore and Stephen J. Kearney, Greenfield Township. A sister, Belva Ittner, Florida. Grandchildren, Stacey Knight and husband Kevin, Jennifer Guy and husband Troy, Amanda Bibalo and husband Stanley, Christine Piasecki, Joseph Piasecki and Zachary Kearney. A daughter-in-law, Cindy Kearney, Springbrook.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Rose and a brother Matthew.

A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday.

Friends and family may visit on Monday from 4-7pm at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore.

Inurnment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
