Glenford Keith Kavanagh Peterborough, Ontario Obituary

Glenford Keith Kavanagh

Kavanagh, Glen

Glen passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on November 23, 2022, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Marlyn for 68 years; loving father of Michael {Ruth} and Larry {Lynda}; doting grandfather to Natasha, Owen (Alysha) and Kelsey {Matt}; proud great grandfather of Bode and Casey. Sadly missed by his sisters Vivian {Les} and Joy {Ben}. Pre-deceased by his brother Errol.

Glen grew up on a small farm in Norwood. He lost both parents at a very young age which meant he had to quit school early to work on the family farm. Although he had a very challenging youth he always overcame adversity with a smile and a laugh. His life took an important change one day when an attractive young lady came to visit her Grandparents neighbouring farm and when Glen first laid eyes on Marlyn Drysdale he was smitten!

After they were married they took the courageous step to leave the farm and move to Bancroft where Glen worked as a carpenter. The young couple were blessed with two boys, Michael and Larry. A few years later Glen made another bold career change and went in to the propane business where he flourished. Over the next thirty years Glen worked for every major propane company in Ontario which involved moving his family several times. He became a prominent figure throughout the industry and capped his career with the launch of his own company, Universal Propane. People always marvelled at how Glen could be such a successful business person and yet was revered as one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Glen and Marlyn retired to Peterborough in where they spent many happy years spoiling their grandchildren and providing a helping hand to their children as their families grew.

Glen will be fondly remembered by all who ever met him as a warm, charming, witty and overall wonderful person. May he rest in peace...

**Please note that the family will have a private memorial and no formal funeral will take place. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate donations to Peterborough Hospice or The Salvation Army. The family would also like to send our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Becca Webster and all the staff at the Hospice Peterborough for the loving care they provided.

A long long time ago the weekends on Paudash Lake with Uncle Glen, my Dad (Glens brother) and our families were the best of times. I’ll never forget.
