Ralph A. Bosch Obituary

Ralph A. Bosch, 95 passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022 in his home in Norwalk, CT. He was predeceased by his best friend, his loving wife Edie.

He leaves behind a rich legacy of family as father to Marne (Steve) Usher, Ralph Jr. (Judy) Bosch, the late James Bosch, Sue (Tom) Marx, Chris Bosch and Mary Vernal; grandfather to Katie (Joe) Ryan, Andrew ( Erin ) Usher, the late Ali Usher, Tom (Grace) Marx Jr, Emily (Kipp) Bleicken, Joe Marx, Chris Vernal and Melanie Vernal; and as great-grandfather to Quinn and Maggie Ryan, Jack, Charlie and James Marx and Maisie Bleicken.

Ralph was born in the small farming community of Broadlands, IL, to Andrew and Frances Bosch and grew up with his sister Rita and his brothers Hank and Bill. The work ethic he developed on the farm would serve him well for the rest of his life.

He left the farm to serve in the army from March, 1946 to March, 1949 in the EUCOM as a Sergeant in the Corp of Engineers. Like many of his generation, his service allowed him to attend college on the G.I. Bill. He completed his undergraduate work at John Carroll University and earned his graduate degree from the University of Illinois. With his newly minted Certified Public Accountant license in hand he joined the accounting firm of KPMG( formerly Peat, Marwick and Mitchell ) beginning in Cleveland then later in Chicago, where he was made partner in 1967, and then to New York City where he ultimately retired as managing partner of the Executive Office in NY in 1985.

Ralph also volunteered his accounting expertise to his community assisting Pegasus Therapeutic Riding and the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.

Ralph was a natural athlete who enjoyed participating in a variety of sports. While in the service he played, golf, baseball, tennis and basketball with the 7702nd Service Battalion. He was on his college basketball team and met the love of his life at a coed softball game.

He married that 3rd baseman, his beloved wife Edythe (Edie) Eble on August 29,1953 at St. John’s Church in Bradford, IL and they shared 69 years together. As a couple they enjoyed many a winter curling at the Nutmeg Curling Club  and summers playing golf at the Country Club of Darien.

Ralph was a man of strong faith who shared his talents and gave of his time, not only to his Parish but to the greater Catholic community. He was honored with the highest appointment as Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and was a Trustee of St. Matthew Parish where he was still lending his expertise on their finances until his passing.

His greatest love was his wife Edie and the family they built together. He never seemed happier than when he was holding an infant, his large hands cradling them with loving security and comfort.
