Steven M. Haugen Obituary

On November 24, 2022, Steven Michael Haugen, age 74, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Steven is survived by his children, his proudest accomplishments, Brandon Haugen, Angie Haugen and Chad Haugen (Camille Bruhn), grandchildren Tyson, Aiden, Blake and Caleb and his better half, Kathy Runningen. He is also survived by his brother, Tom Haugen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steven was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Emery and Susie Haugen on March 9, 1948. He was the fourth of five children and a native of La Crosse. Steve graduated from Logan High School, class of 1967. Following graduation he attended Western Wisconsin Technical College where he earned a degree in Welding. He worked multiple jobs until he moved back to La Crosse and met Kathy, "the love of his life". They were united in marriage on June 8th, 1974 and had 3 children. Steve's career path included many years with G.Heileman Brewery and ended with his passion of long-distance truck driving, which took him from coast to coast throughout the years. He was employed with Bonsack Trucking right up to his final resting time here where he was known as "Movie Man".

Steve was a member of the La Crosse Sailboat Club, Eagles Club & Jeep Club. A long-time passion of his was videotaping special occasions, which led him to start his company, Video Memories. But what brought Steve the most joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, his friends & neighbors, driving around in his Jeep, "cheating" as he would call it when he would get ice cream, camping and watching Roku with his little sidekicks, Skipper the dog & Jackson the cat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Susie Haugen, his siblings, Kent, Pete and Pat Wing and his daughter- in-law Alyson Haugen.

Family and friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 30th and Thursday, December 1st from 10-11 a.m.at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill Street, La Crosse where services will also be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Phillip Waselik.
