<p>Shirley L. Myers</p><p>Shirley L. Myers, 76, of Jamestown passed away Wednesday (November 23, 2022) in her home after a courageous three year battle with cancer.</p><p>A lifelong area resident, she was born October 1, 1946 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Burdette and Jane Pratt Baker.</p><p>Shirley was a 1964 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and a 1965 graduate of Jamestown School of Practical Nursing. In earlier years Shirley was employed by the former Jamestown General Hospital and prior to retirement was employed by The Resource Center and later Lutheran Social Services as a charge nurse. Shirley was widely regarded among colleagues and patients as being an exceptional nurse for over half a century in the Jamestown area. After retirement Shirley worked taking care of the elderly in their homes.</p><p>She was a member of the Lakewood Rod &amp; Gun Club and volunteered at the Gerry Rodeo for many decades since childhood, when she could be seen barrel racing on her horse, “Tony”. Shirley had a great love for her family and enjoyed traveling to visit relatives, including her many nieces and nephews. She loved going on vacations, visiting the beach, and on occasion playing the slots at the casino. And she hated beards.</p><p>She is survived by her son Gregory D. Myers of Jamestown, a sister Nancy (Sam) Salemme of Gerry, NY, her nieces Diane (Brad) Blizzard of Cassadaga, NY and Sheila Kearney of Rio Ranch, NM, nephews Jerry (Mary Jo) House, of Jamestown, Larry (Katie) House of Dover Plains, NY, Sam (Tracy) Salemme of Jamestown, and Scott (Kathy) Salemme of Hammondsport, NY, several great nieces and nephews, her ex-husband and friend David (Lynn) Myers of Jamestown, and last but not least, her beloved adopted daughter, Katie the Shih Tzu.</p><p>Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Betty (Arthur) House.</p><p>The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Shirley’s funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gerry Cemetery.</p><p>In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to The Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research; Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care, Roswell Park Cancer Institute or the Chautauqua County Humane Society.</p><p>Visit our website at www.falconerfuneralhome.net to send a message of condolence. Shirley L. Myers, 76, of Jamestown passed away Wednesday (November 23, 2022) in her home after a courageous three year battle with cancer.
