James ("Jim") Thomas Sullivan Obituary

James Thomas Sullivan (“Jim”) of Warminster, PA, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness at his residence on November 22, 2022 at the age of 80. Jim was born in 1942 to his parents Thomas Woodrow Sullivan and Jennie Elbert Sullivan in Philadelphia, PA.

Jim was the beloved husband of D. Jean Sullivan (Wolff) for 57 years and he was the devoted father of Kathleen (Jim) Swan and Rebecca Vital. Jim also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: James, Emily, Amanda, Daniel, Arielle and Melissa; his precious great-grandchildren: Nova, Willow, Ava and Aliyah. Jim was a loyal brother to Jane Hadfield, Joyce (Jonathan) Lloyd, and Janet (Butch) DuPont. Jim was also a caring brother-in-law to Judie (Norm) Adams, Ruthie Muench, John (Marty) Wolff, and Rebecca (Larry) McCarty. In addition, Jim will be truly missed by his many nieces and nephews who loved him with admiration. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Woodrow Sullivan and Jennie Elbert Sullivan.

Jim attended several universities until getting his Bachelor’s degree at Wheaton College (IL) followed by a Master’s degree at University of Iowa.

Jim was a Vietnam Veteran and he faithfully served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division. After active duty, Jim joined an Army Reserve Unit and retired after 20 years of dedicated service as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Jim went on to teach American history for ten years at his alma mater Abington High School and he taught college level economics as well. Jim eventually went back to school and obtained his CPA. Jim worked for Coopers & Lybrand accounting firm and then for Lenox China. While at Lenox, Jim served on the board of New Jersey Opera Festival and he later became the chairman. Jim  would take his little granddaughter, Amanda, to the dress rehearsals where she developed her love of the opera, even to this day. Jim was always selfless with his time and sharing his wisdom with his family and friends

Jim was the essence of a family man. He loved being on vacation and spending time with his loved ones. Jim was generous beyond measure to anyone who came into his life and this was due to his deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ. This belief was the core of his being and the reason for his unconditional love. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him, for, we loved him without limits.
