EDWARDSBURG-Janet Barfoot passed in the early morning of November 23rd in the comforts of her home surrounded by the love that she and her husband David Lawrence created in Edwardsburg Michigan after a 2 year battle with cancer. Janet was a native of Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University and obtained her Masters Degree from The University of Illinois.

Janet had a productive and meaningful career in Vocational Rehab Administration in Chicago, Illinois, Denver, Colorado and Edwardsburg, Michigan. She was passionate about working in the helping profession. Janet’s advocacy on behalf of others came natural to her.

Janet was married for 37 years to David Lawrence. They resided in Chicago, Illinois for many years, moved to the Colorado mountains upon Dave’s retirement and then moved to Michigan her last few years to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Dave and their daughter Patty took incredible care of Janet during her battle with cancer and fulfilled her wish to be at home with hospice care in her final days.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents Louise & Joseph Barfoot, brothers Wesley, Denny & Gary Barfoot, sister-in-law Elizabeth Barfoot as well as her mother-in-law Doris Finch.

She is survived by her children Patty Schaible (Brian), Edwardsburg, Michigan, Regis Lawrence, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, 3 loving grandchildren Katie, Mackenzie and Lyle Schaible, Edwardsburg, Michigan, sisters Marybeth Davis (James), Liberty, Missouri, Linda McGinnis, Olathe, Kansas, Margaret Goldberg (Ted), Chicago, Illinois, sisters-in-law Mary Silverstein (Dave), Olathe, Kansas, Annie Barfoot, Leavenworth, Kansas, Barbara Barfoot, Riverside, California, brothers Brian Barfoot (Brigid), Kansas City, Missouri, Joe Barfoot (Lenore), Littleton, Colorado.

Janet was cremated in accordance with her wishes. A memorial service with her community will be held. Sunday December 18, 2022 at the Community Church - 28647 US-12 Edwardsburg, Michigan.  Service at 2:00 PM - luncheon to follow until 5:00PM. In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held in her childhood hometown of Kansas City, Missouri in the spring of 2023.
