ANNE LABDIK

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Anne Labdik announces her passing on Sunday, November 20, 2022. She left us surrounded with the love and presence of her family and the special caregivers of Hogarth Riverview Manor (4S).

Anne was born on July 26, 1927 and was raised in the East End of Fort William. She was one of the six girls born to Steve and Annie Wallek.

She attended St. Peter’s School, worked at Can Car and other various places of employment. Mom married dad in 1944, a marriage that lasted for 63 years. Anne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her visits to camp to see Emma and Claire. Anne kept her hands busy always knitting hats, mitts, scarves, and sweaters.

In past years she enjoyed being with her circle of friends (especially Isabella). Her devotion to dad during his illness was very much admired. Anne was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Church and the CWL.

She will be dearly missed by her sons Paul (Michele), John (Heather), granddaughter Leigh Ann Gleeson (Mark) and those special great granddaughters Emma and Claire as well as other nieces and nephews.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Steve in 2008, parents Steve and Annie Wallek, sisters Amelia and Margaret in infancy, Sophie Pielka, Albina Lysak and Caroline Zimak. Bothers-in-law Walter Pielka, Walter Lysak, Bruno Zimak and nephew Allan Lysak.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, when family and friends will gather at St. Peter’s Church for the funeral Mass at 11:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Arockiam. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass time. Final resting place will be at Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. If friends desire, memorials to St. Peter’s Renovation Fund or charity of choice would be appreciated.

It is because of love that we grieve and because of love that we are comforted.
