Virginia C. Giroux Obituary

Virginia C. Giroux, of Plainville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. She is now reunited with her loving husband, Robert L. Giroux, who predeceased her in 2014.

Virginia was born on February 4, 1934 in Waterville, Maine, daughter to the late Harold and Albia (Richard) Landry. She grew up in Maine and attended local schools, marrying her sweetheart in 1954. Virginia and Robert left Maine, ventured to California for a year and traveled back across the U.S., settling in Plainville, establishing their forever home. She was a hard-worker, not afraid to get her hands dirty, continuously putting in her all when working at Stanley Works for many years. Virginia looked forward to flea market trips with her friends, sewing, drawing, crocheting, gardening and cooking. She had a treasured collection of hundreds of cookbooks! Virginia was a classy lady, always well put together and dressed to her best. She had a welcoming, kind-hearted personality and all who met her quickly befriended her. There were never any negative comments said of Virginia, as she was well-liked and respected. Virginia enjoyed entertaining, telling silly jokes and doing anything she could to help out whoever needed her. She had a love for camping and she loved visiting beaches throughout CT, RI, ME and wherever else she could swim. It didn't matter how cold the water was, she went in! Virginia and Robert would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2014 and their family takes comfort in knowing they are happily together again leaving a legacy of love and fond memories.

Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Linda Carpenter, of Vernon, and Jane Baylock and her husband, George, of Bristol; her grandchildren, Cindy Pasiakos and her husband, George, Cheryl Fox and her husband, Craig, Stephanie Sastri, and Russell Baylock; her great-grandchildren, Anna and Alexander Pasiakos, Emmy Patnoe, and Riley and Tyler Fox. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Lorraine Adams and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Brian Carpenter.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, December 3 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.
