<p>Helmut Schmidt of Ponoka, Alberta passed away on Sunday November 20, 2022 at the age of 80 years.&nbsp; He is survived by Heidi, his wife of 58 years (his Schatz for longer yet);&nbsp;his daughter and son-in-law Sabine and&nbsp;Dan McDougall; and his grandson Max Hall - of whom he could not have been prouder; his sister Hilde Feldberg and her family;&nbsp;as well as extended family and friends in Germany and Canada. </p><p>As per Helmut's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. However, a gathering to celebrate his&nbsp;life will take place on Saturday, January&nbsp; 28th, 2023 at the Ponoka Legion from&nbsp;3:00 p.m.&nbsp;to 5:30 p.m.&nbsp;(drop-in/come-and-go/stay). </p><p>&nbsp; </p>
