William Alton Luker

<p>Funeral service for William Alton Luker will be Friday, November 25, 2022 at 1:00PM at Peck Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Childs and Rev. Robert Weaver officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Friday, burial will be Red Oak Cemetery in Somerville.&nbsp;Mr. Luker was born on February 20, 1925 to Zed and Nettie&nbsp;Luker. He died on November 23, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. </p><p>William was a member of Highland Baptist church and a member of the Masonic lodge in Somerville. His favorite hobby was playing music. William was drafted in the army at 19 years old and served as a tank driver under General Patton during WWII. He retired as a machine operator for General Motors. Mr. Luker was preceded in death by his Parents, wife- Christine Luker, his brothers- Martin Luther Luker and Robert Wendell Luker, and sister- Corrine Idella Saylor. </p><p>Survivors include: </p><p>Two Daughters: Betty Drinkard (Allen) and Jo Clifton (Jerry) </p><p>Five Grandchildren: Michelle Weaver (Robert), Kristie Smith (Pete), Jonathan Clifton (Rachel), Melody Lillich (Tommy), and Mariah Hill (Lucas) </p><p>Ten Great Grandchildren: Isabella, Keira, Carter, Asher Clifton, Titus Hill, Gage Lillich (Sarah), Harmony Lillich, Harrison Smith, Ella Grace Smith, and Nathaniel Weaver. </p><p>Special Friend: Sue Oden </p><p>Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Clifton, Gage Lillich, Tommy Lillich, Harrison Smith, Pete Smith, and Nathaniel Weaver. </p>

I am very thankful the friendship and fellowship shared with Mr. Luker . He was the last person I knew that served in World War 2 . The passing of The Greatest Generation .
