Sean H. Ross

Sean Howard Ross (known affectionately to his family as Pat), the third of five children, was born February 4, 1950, on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, to Jimmie Beatrice Ross. He attended Saint Bernard Elementary, Hail Franciscan High, both in Chicago and the University of Iowa, Iowa City, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree. He worked at Economy-Tru Art Advertising Shipping and Receiving in Iowa City until March 1995, when his health prevented him from continuing in that field of employment. In October 1990, Sean attended his church’s convention in Jamaica, West Indies for the second time in three years. There he met his love and life’s partner, Maisielin (Maisie) Gordon. They got married January 12, 1992, and remained faithful to their wedding vows “to love each other in sickness and in health, till death do us part.” In March 1995, Sean began dialysis due to End Stage Renal Failure. In October 1995, they moved from Iowa City to West Palm Beach where his wife began her career with the University of Florida Extension in Palm Beach County. His last dialysis was Monday November 21, 2022, and he said goodbye to his mortal flesh the morning of November 22, 2022.

Throughout the years, no matter the circumstances, Sean never wavered in his faith in God his Creator. He spent much time in Bible Study, trusted God’s Word and believed that He was always in charge. He allowed nothing to prevent him from focusing on God’s way. Sean was a very deep thinker who never relished confrontation. Sean held his friends very dear, always tried to keep in touch, and offered to help friends and others alike. He was always concerned for and about his younger sister, Diane. One friend remarked that Sean co-signed for his first car. He had an infectious smile and very kind heart. Some of Sean’s favorite pastime included; listening to music, collecting postcards from around the world, painting, watching movies – especially action movies and Star Wars, antique cars, motorcycles, taking and arranging pictures in photo albums, watching soccer (he finally developed a love for professional tennis) and playing with our dog, sandy which he adopted and named eleven years ago.

Sean was preceded in death by: an older sister who died at birth, mother Jimmie Beatrice Ross, sister Marsha Washington and brother Warren.
