Obituary

Mrs. Susie Elizabeth Fountain Bond, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her residence in the Rock Branch Community of Elberton. She was surrounded by those that she had devoted her life to caring for.

“Jo”, as she was affectionately known, was born in Franklin County on June 30, 1941. The sixth of twelve children born to George Washington Fountain and Julie Ann Dowell Fountain, she was raised in the Sandy Cross Community and always called it home. Mrs. Bond retired from Monore-Tenneco Automotive after 33 years of faithful service. After retirement, she became a certified nursing assistant and enjoyed caring for the elderly.

Above all, Jo devoted her life to caring for her family. Her hard work ethic and quick whit will be instilled in generations to come. You never had to guess what she was thinking because she was quick to tell you. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers, and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clyde Ray Bond and her sons: Ronald and Donna Bond and Allen and Ashley Bond. She was a devoted “Granny” to her grandchildren: Chana and Wes DeGrave, Sommer and Chris Morris, Samantha and Cody Lester, Joshua and Kira Bond, and Mallory and Scott Parr and a doting “Nanny” to her great-grandchildren: Maverick, Legend, Savanna, Grayson, Lawson, Jameson, Ryan, Camryn, Luke, and Mason. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings: Tommy and Barbara Ann Fountain, Bobby and Susan Fountain, Berry and Johnnie Fountain, John and Mary Fountain, Cora Mae and Parks Aldridge, Geraldine and Troy Seagraves, and Jimmie Lou Bennett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Jean Parten, Robert Fountain, Roger Fountain, and Frances Fountain.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Saturday, November 26, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Jo’s life will be held on Sunday, November 27, at 3:00p.m. at the Rock Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Huff and Mr. Chris Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Joshua Bond, Wes DeGrave, Cody Lester, Robbie Johnson, Alex Bond, and Scott Parr serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Bond will be placed in the church at 2:00p.m.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation, PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
