WAYNE MORRIS CAMPBELL

CAMPBELL, Wayne Morris

It is with heavy hearts Wayne’s family shares the news of his passing on November 18, 2022. Wayne was 72 and he passed at home in Restoule, Ontario…the place he loved most and where he wanted to be. Wayne always said Restoule was the Centre of the Universe and to him, it most certainly was. The many messages of condolences have brought loving memories of how many people experienced Wayne in this world. In the words of those who loved Wayne, he was a ten-foot tall and bullet proof guy with rough edges and the biggest, softest heart, who genuinely cared for others. He was always warm, welcoming, and authentically interested in those he met. He stayed true to himself and what he believed in, never losing that core of who he was to please those who may disagree with him. What you saw is what you got. He loved people and his friends were important to him. He believed he was a wealthy man because of the loving and deep friendships that were part of his life. Wayne was a lifelong trade unionist and New Democrat. He believed in the righteous fight for equality and struggle on behalf of working people. He was a “union brother” to many. Wayne is survived by his wife Frances (Lankin), his son Jim, his daughter Lori, his grandchildren Zac, Ashlee and Paige and his four beautiful great-granddaughters Brooklyn, Avah, Alyssa and Callie, his mother Beulah Hamilton, brothers Warren, Garry, Steve, his Aunt Carol, his brother-in-law Ted Ollmann and his many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John (Jack) Campbell, his stepfather Dave Hamilton, his brother Rodney and his brother-in-law Dillon. There will be no funeral service as per Wayne’s wishes, but a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Restoule Royal Canadian Legion Branch 639 (50 Hawthorne Drive, Restoule, ON P0H 2R0 705-729-5828).
