Shirley Lytle Anderson
<p>Shirley Lytle Anderson, 87, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Brookdale Asheville Walden Ridge.</p><p><br></p><p>Shirley was born in Old Fort, NC, to the late Arnold Brooks and Eva Hogan Lytle on July 13, 1935. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, Donald, and her brother, Tommy. </p><p><br></p><p>Shirley graduated from High Point College with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She then taught fourth and fifth grade students at Old Fort Elementary School. She married Donald L. Anderson, a fellow teacher, on August 17, 1958, in Old Fort, NC. Shirley left teaching to raise her children but continued to use her education skills as a Sunday School Superintendent for Children at the Old Fort First Baptist Church. Shirley had a second career in real estate which lasted 20 years. She was most recently a member of Marion First Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed observing wildlife, particularly birdwatching, a passion she imparted to her children and grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Shirley is survived by her sons Brent Anderson (Brandy Shay Bowman), Dale Anderson (Marilyn Mielke), and Greg Anderson (Heather); her grandchildren Ian Anderson (Andrea), Sam Anderson, Grace Anderson, Molly Anderson, and Noelle Mielke; and her great-grandchildren Teddy and Calvin Anderson. </p><p><br></p><p>A graveside service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Glenwood Cemetery with Dr. Scott Hagaman officiating.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>Obituary
