<p>Avis Louise (McCoy) Gilbert departed this life on Friday, April 15, 2022 surrounded by her family after a long battle with chronic kidney failure. She was born to Charlie J. and Irma Mae (Sanders) McCoy on May 1, 1958 in Toledo, OH.</p><p><br></p><p>She graduated from Libbey High School in 1976 and went on to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Avis was known for her cooking everywhere she went. Throughout her career she held many positions as a professional cook until her health dictated her retirement in 2011. </p><p><br></p><p>Avis was the life the party. She loved to dance, play cards, and most importantly spend time with family. If there was an event, she was the first on the call list to bring her famous peach cobbler and some fun. She was full of life and protective of those she loved. </p><p><br></p><p>Avis leaves to cherish her memory husband of 38 years, Michael Gilbert Sr. Sons: Michael Gilbert Jr., Aaron Gilbert Sr., Carmello Gilbert, Ronald Nelly, Richard (Tiffany) Neely and daughters Brandi (Carl) Gilbert-Hammett and Mariah Gilbert. 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brothers: Henry McCoy, Donald McCoy, and Eddie (Willa) Norrils and sister: Frances Hills, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>She was proceeded in death by her parents and three brothers: George McCoy, Charlie McCoy Jr., and Michael McCoy.</p>
