Cassaundra Joyce Purple, age 30, of Grand Marais, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, November 20, 2022 at her home. She was born on September 11, 1992 in Marquette to Gerald “Jerry” and Mikki (Ward) Purple.  Cassaundra grew up in Grand Marais and was a member of the Burt Township Class of 2010.   She was lovingly known around town by the kids as “Babysitter” instead of Cassaundra as she helped care for many of them while growing up.  Cassaundra waitressed in Grand Marais and then bartended in Howell and metro Detroit.   While in Howell, her daughter Adelynn was born.  Cassaundra was an excellent cook and she loved to be outside.  Grand Marais was always special to her.  She cherished the family time at Gram and Pa’s and she loved walking the beach in search of agates.  Cassaundra loved her family dearly and, she was blessed with a good heart. 

          She is survived by her daughter – Adelynn Powell of Jackson, MI; mom – Mikki Geiger of Grand Marais; brothers – Scott Purple of Breckinridge, MI and Nathan Purple of Reed City, MI; stepsisters – Jodi (Brian) Merritt of Lake George, MI and Traci (Mike) Love of Owosso, MI; boyfriend – Justin Locker of Grand Marais; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Cassaundra was preceded in death by her fathers Gerald Scott Purple and Norman Geiger, her brother Christopher Purple, and grandparents Harold Ward, Joyce Ward, Jerry Purple, and Helen Purple. 

         Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising.  Visiting time with family and friends will take place from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
