<p>It is with great sadness that the family of Ed Meyerhoffer announce his passing on Saturday November 5, 2022 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. &nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Born on February 4, 1937 Ed grew up and went to school in Qu’Appelle, SK the oldest son of Rose (nee Stroh) and Michael Meyerhoffer and big brother to Jerry, Carol, Robert, Maryanne and Kenny. An excellent student and athlete, he balanced his youth between the library, ball diamond and hockey rink. While working on a survey near the town of Tisdale in 1956 he met a little gal working in a coffee shop. Eight months later, on September 2, 1957, Ed and his soulmate, Eileen Meyerhoffer (nee Jacobs), married and began on a journey that spanned 65 years. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Their early life together focused on supporting Ed’s post-secondary studies culminating in a BA (UofS’68) and certificate in education (UofA’69) and having three children (Penny, Sheri and Barron). In 1969 Ed was hired by the Willow Creek School Division to teach drafting at the new Willow Creek Composite High School (WCCHS).&nbsp; He loved teaching and took great pride in his students. Over the years his teaching repertoire expanded to include math and physics and after school activities including football referee. Professional activities outside of teaching included designing houses and commercial buildings, notably, numerous southern Alberta Credit Unions. A devoted father, he criss-crossed southern Alberta, cheering and timing at swim meets and coaching hockey games.&nbsp; He celebrated each of his children’s&nbsp; life achievements and held them during each time of sorrow.&nbsp; He loved being a grandfather to Jesse and Carson Green, Logan Meyerhoffer and step-grandfather to Max and Oliver Clarke. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Ed is survived by his wife, children, daughter-in-law Julie (Barron), grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>A Celebration of Ed’s life was&nbsp;held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Zentner Funeral Homes, a recording has been uploaded below </p>
