Isiah Turner Obituary

Isiah "Ike" Turner peacefully gained his wings Tuesday December 7th, 2021. Isiah was born May 11,1939 to the late Albert and Inez Turner. After graduating from Dunbar High School in Bessemer Alabama, he immediately joined the United States Army. After serving 4 years in the military, he moved to Toledo, Ohio where he met and married Josephine Pope, and from that union, they had three beautiful daughters.

Ike worked many years as a painter at Chrysler Jeep. Upon his retirement from Jeep, he also spent numerous hours delivering Meals on Wheels to the elderly and working at the voting polls.

Ike loved music, shooting pool, watching Alabama and Ohio State football teams, being with family, sitting on his front porch whistling and rocking in his swing, playing his harmonica, organ and guitars, and was a dedicated 20 year member of Charity Baptist Church and dedicated member of the male chorus. He was also quite the comedian. In an effort to further his spiritual journey, he also took online classes, focusing on religion, and often speaking with others about the bible and its teachings.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his daughter Johanna "Lynne" Turner, his brother Albert Turner, and sisters, Ida B. Turner, Mamie Sullivan, Inez (Turner) Stallion, Sallie Gipson and Mary Cahill.

Isiah leaves to cherish his memories; Josephine Pope of Toledo, daughters, Juanita (Turner) Osby of Suffolk, Virginia and Debra Turner of Toledo, Ohio, and honorary daughters, Anna Strong and Zella Linzy.
