James Eddie Hoard Obituary

James Eddie Hoard Jr., age 79, entered into God's eternal rest on December 2, 2021. James was born in Brandon (Fannin), MS to James and Mary Hoard on April 5, 1942.


James graduated from Carter High School. He traveled to New Orleans where he worked numerous jobs. In 1969 he settled Toledo, Ohio where he proceeded to work at Libbey-Owens-Ford (L.O.F.), from which he retired after being an employee for 32 years. James was a hard worker and at times worked multiple jobs. James was a member of the Holiness Temple of God in Christ Church where he was a deacon for many years. James enjoyed attending church, cooking, fishing "catching salmon fish", and watching sports. He enjoyed gathering with his family and friends and delighted in barbecuing at family cookouts.


James was preceded in death by his father, James E. Hoard Sr.; mother, Mary Hoard; brother, George Hoard; sisters, Barbara Outten, Eddie "Sally" Saffold; sister-in-law, Myrtle Mae Minnfield; his late wife, Zula B. Hoard; daughter, Hattie Marie Ray "Reese". His memories will be cherished by his wife, Cynthia Hoard of 20 years; four sons, Larry (Elaine) Larkins; James E. Hoard III, Jermaine (Neha) Sanders, Gerald Sanders; two daughters, Basheba (Johnnie) Johnson, Danielle Sanders; sister, Jannie "Pee Wee" Fair; brother, John (Delois) Hoard; special grandson, James "Buddy", special granddaughter, Honesty "Pooder Pain"; special nieces, Robbie and Glenda; special friends, Johnny B. and Elder Wortham, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
