Wilmot Morris Barnes Jr. departed this life on October 21, 2021. He was born in Grenada Mississippi, to the union of Wilmot Sr. and Pearl Barnes. Wilmot attended elementary and junior high school in Mississippi. The family moved to Toledo, Ohio, where Wilmot attended and graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School. He attended the University of Toledo before joining the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Wilmot worked various jobs in the community, invariably designing plans to start his own business.

Wilmot, along with a group of men from the "Royal Knight's Social Club", owned and operated the "Black Knights Men's Shoppe". Following this business venture, Wilmot became an insurance agent, still planning to own and operate his own business. "Wilmot's Boots and Shoes" was established.

Wilmot became known as "Mr. Insurance Man" in the tri-state area.

Brother Wilmot Barnes Jr. was a Freemason, a member of the Amazon Lodge, a Knights Templar, and a member of the Shrine.

Wilmot was preceded in death by both parents and his only sibling Minnie Barnes-Armstrong. Wilmot will be remembered fondly by his wife of 32 years, Linda; sons Kenton, Brian and Terry Barnes; daughter Alanna Barnes-Smith (Spenser); step-son Damon Lee; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Services for Wilmot will be 10:00am on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at First Church of God- 3016 Collingwood Ave, Toledo, OH 43610.
