Julius Loren Jones

Julius Loren Jones

June 13, 1985 to August 24, 2021

Julius Loren Jones was born on June 13, 1985, two minutes after his twin brother Justin, to Otis and Connie Jones in Toledo, Ohio. He was raised with his three brothers, Christopher, Jason, and Justin, in a loving and God-fearing family. In his 36 years, Julius touched many lives through his loving, loyal, and inquisitive nature.

His relationship with God began when he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the age of 5 by his grandfather, Rev. Dr. Otis W. Jones. Julius continued his life of faith under his grandfather’s leadership at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Julius, along with his brothers, were taught to live by the scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13, and Julius’s life exemplified this daily.

Julius graduated in 2003 from St. John’s Jesuit High School, and not long after graduation, he met the love of his life, Lauren Shaw Jones. He went on to pursue his Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit Mercy where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007.

When he returned to Toledo to begin his professional career, he continued to nurture his relationship with Lauren and on Dec. 12, 2009, they married in a beautiful ceremony. During their time together, Julius and Lauren established a foundation rooted in God, family, and friendship that held them together through the most joyous and difficult moments of their marriage.

In his work life, Julius was a team player who focused on achievement. He began his career in engineering in 2007 at Dana Inc., where he served in multiple roles including Engineering Manager, Dana Operating System Challenge Commissioner, and co-chair of the Dana African-American Resource Group. He served as a First Robotics Mentor with Toledo Technology Academy to aid youth in furthering their interest in S.T.E.M. In addition, Julius obtained a U.S. Patent for an Electromagnetic Axle Disconnect System, which is used in many vehicles today.

In 2020, Julius and Lauren stepped out on faith and ventured into a new beginning in Indiana, where he became an engineering manager with Firestone Industrial Products. In the short time there, he made an influence on the hearts and minds of his work team.

Although Julius was passionate about his work, the proudest moments of Julius’s life began when he became a father. While Julius and Lauren suffered the loss of their first daughter Elora in 2012, Julius spoke often about the positive impact her short life had on him and his wife. In 2014, they were blessed with a son, Myles, and then in 2018, they were blessed with twin girls, Juliana and Symone. He believed the most important part of his job as a father was to shower them with love and encouragement. It is because of this; their hearts will continue to be filled with beautiful memories that will sustain them for the rest of their lives.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elora Lael Jones, and four grandparents Rev. Dr. Otis W. Jones, Julia McFarland Jones, Alice Bebley Jones, and Alice Garrison Russell.

Julius Loren Jones is survived by his wife, Lauren Jones, and children, Myles Lawrence, Juliana Lauren and Symone Leigh Jones; parents, Otis L. and Connie L. Jones; grandfather, Elder Claude Russell, Jr.; sisters, Reverend Davanna R. Jones and Natalie McIntyre; brothers, Christopher (Katrina) Jones, Jason (Ashley) Jones, and Justin (Brittany) Jones, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and God-children.
