Obituary

Lavena Denise Syph-Reynolds, lovingly known as "Vena" and also known as "Moma V" and "Sexi V", was born October 10, 1971, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Denise Butler (Syph) and the late Larry Reynolds.

God called our beautiful, loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend home on Friday, August 20, 2021, peacefully in her sleep at home.

Vena was the second oldest of four children. She was educated in the Toledo Public School System, and attended DeVilbiss High School class of 1989. Vena grew up on the south side, and moved to the west side, but was known on all sides of Toledo.

Vena devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Vena's love for her family and friends was by far her greatest contribution.

She was a special person to anyone that crossed paths with her. Family and friends loved Vena, and she always loved them back. Vena always tried to connect family with each other, so we would know who we were related to. The love for her friends was impeccable, she loved them unconditionally. To know Vena was to love her.

Vena loved to do hair, braiding was her specialty, and she has blessed many heads in her time. Vena was most of our favorite bartender in some of these bars that she worked in. She would have you a good mixed drink or shot, and later on that night when she got off, she would tear you up on that pool table. Vena loved playing pool, she would make a pool shark uncomfortable. Vena was the G.O.A.T. on the tables.

Vena also "loved the kids" and at times did private daycare.

Vena was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Butler (Syph); father, Larry Reynolds; brothers, Roshell Butler Jr. and Orlando Syph; special cousins, Latina "Teen" Hampton.

Vena leaves to cherish in her loving memory, her children, Antaneshia (Quelly), John (LaRose), Todd (Diamanique); step-father, Roshell Butler Sr.; siblings, Altaise, Larry, Charles, and Larry, Jr.. Vena also leaves to cherish her grandchildren, Taliyah, Taniyah, Taronn Jr., Micayla, Ki'Laiyah, Ta'Nyla, Tazire, Ti'Onna, Ti'Juan, Lil John, Juney, Todd Jr., JaRiyah and Baby Girl, Jaiden. She leaves behind her special niece, Chartese; nephews, Keshawn, Tazeem, and Junius; special cousins/lovebugg, Liz Redic, Antwain Turner, and Quentin Butler; bestfriend/sister, Brenda "Niecey" Hodges; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
