Dorothy Mae Wenzler Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie Wenzler 74, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday July 26, 2021, in her home.

Dorothy affectionally known as “Dottie” to many of her friends, was born in Joyner Ark, On Dec 10, 1946, to the proud parents of Robert L and Bernice Franklin. The family eventually relocated to Toledo, Ohio, it is here that Dottie met and married Peter J. Wenzler. Through this Union they had 1 daughter Sonya Renee Hamilton (Wenzler).

Dottie worked as a Respiratory Therapist for Flower Hospital for over 30 years before retiring in the early 2000’s. She enjoyed painting, camping, softball and dancing, and looked forward to family and friends’ gathering where she could enjoy them. She really loved these times together. One of her true loves was cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes, she LOVED them. She was a die heart FAN, and nothing was going to stop her from supporting her favorite team. When the game was on don’t call her, don’t come over, DO NO DISTURB her, or you were gonna hear about it.

Aunt Dot was funny, kindhearted, and resilient and to the point. She didn’t hold her tongue and told it like it was. She commanded respect because she believed she earned it. She was a faithful child of God and in the last few years her faith was tested, and she stood tall and always believed with prayer things would always work out.

Dorothy preceded in death by her Parents Robert and Bernice Franklin, Bro. Jesse Ewing, and Sister Wyzett Hill, Bro in law Samuel L. Hill, Nephews Tony Franklin, Nieces Tammie Hill, Racole M. Hill and great niece Lecretia Hite.

Dottie is survived by her Daughter Sonya Hamilton (Rusty), granddaughter Samantha Hamilton, Nephews Tim Franklin, Tyrone Franklin (Veronica), Niece Felicia Hill, Sandie Welch, great niece Arreill Hill, Great Nephews Keshawn Layson, and Gregory Hannible and host of other nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, and friends.
