As a young woman, Bernice worked at Toledo Hospital as a nurse assistant, until health concerns no longer allowed her to work. She then became a homemaker. Her hobbies included bowling and reading. Bernice loved God and she loved worshipping God in church. Her spirit was uplifting to family and strangers alike. She counseled, encouraged, and spoke truth to those who asked for it and to those who didn't. Bernice was raised in and then eventually given the home at 733 Spring St. in Toledo, OH, by her parents, in which she lived for many years with her own family.
