Lucille R. Elandt, age 98 of Neenah, formerly of Clintonville, passed away on Tuesday November 22, 2022 at Valley VNA Senior Care, Neenah.

Lucille Ruth (Preuss) Elandt
March 7, 1924-November 22, 2022

Lucy often said, “I’ll go when He’s ready for me”.  On Tuesday, November 22 the Lord gently took her by the hand and led her into His heavenly home.  She was joyously greeted by her husband, Jumbo, dear friends and family that she has missed for years.

Lucille was born on the family farm near Ogdensburg, WI.  Lucy enjoyed the fun and chores of farm life with her parents Leo and Emma (Froemming) Preuss and seven older siblings.  She was baptized, confirmed and later married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Manawa.  She graduated from Little Wolf High School.  Then she went on to secure a two year teaching certificate at normal school in Wisconsin Rapids.  She was in charge of a one room school at age 19!  While teaching full time, she attended further education classes and ultimately graduated from UW-Stevens Point with her B.S. Education Degree.  After 41 years in teaching she retired from the Clintonville School District and talked fondly of the students and teachers.

Lucille married Roy (Jumbo) Elandt on a snowy day in December 1945.  Their marriage was blessed with one daughter and 68 years together.  Lucy lovingly spoiled her husband.  Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, golf and traveling.  They cherished their time with their grandchildren and rarely missed a school or sports event.

Lucille and Jumbo were active members of St. Martin Lutheran Church and the church school.  Lucy LOVED to golf!  She was a member of the Riverside Golf Club and represented the course in Northeast WI Golf Association.  She also enjoyed a good game of Bridge with “the girls”, and outscoring her daughter and granddaughter at Scrabble.  She prepared many coolers for a day on LacView Dessert for fishing with the five Tyrivers and then fried the catch of the day over an open campfire.

Lucy will be cherished in the hearts of her daughter, Rae and her favorite son in law, Paul Tyriver – Neenah;  grandchildren and great grandchildren: Adam and Julie Tyriver, Addie and Franklin – Neenah; Amy and Andy Paulios, Maggie and Ty – McFarland, WI ; Ben and Lindsey Tyriver, Eiley, Michael, Maeve-Marquette, MI.

A private family funeral will take place at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Greenville, WI with interment at Greenleaf Cemetery, Marion, WI.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Valley VNA of Neenah OR St. Martin School in Clintonville.

A word of thanks to pastors and lay workers of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville; Pastor Rick Schroeder of Peace Lutheran in Neenah; and Pastor Steve Kline of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville  Our family also extends praise for ALL caregivers everywhere but especially those at the Aster Retirement Community, Clintonville and more recently our special angels at the Valley VNA Senior Living in Neenah.  Your compassion and TLC was remarkable!
