Robert Charles McLane Obituary

Mr. Robert Charles McLane, Jr., 63, of Holland, Ohio, departed this life on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on January 25, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Robert Charles McLane, Sr, and Lessie Mae (Jackson) Jennings. Robert grew up in Spencer Township where he attended Irwin Elementary and Spencer-Sharples High School.

Despite a few trials of fate mixed with a few bad decisions, to truly know Robert was to love him. He lived each day like it was his last with a joyful, care free spirit that was contagious and granted him many friends. His sharp fashion sense coupled with his love of cars made him the life to any party! Robert mastered the sport of fishing and would catch, clean and filet a fish like no other placing him as the competition to any fish market!

Robert was a very distinct and precise man. From the way he chose his words to the way he calculated each thought, his presence leaves an impeccable imprint on all who encountered him. He believed in hard work and often displayed this ethic in various handyman jobs requiring rigorous labor; he had the capabilities of every strong, black man with the capacity of a full workforce that was unmatched.

Most importantly, Robert believed in family. From his childhood up until the day he departed this life, he openly shared what family meant to him and his ideal of what the model family looks like. He wasn’t particularly proud, nor apologetic about the life he lived as he believed strongly in life’s destiny and one’s fate. He was a true believer in the principle of “reaping what you sow” and handled his “reaping” with grace. His personality didn’t always allow for him to right many wrongs, but it did afford him the position as the “ice-breaker” at the family’s round table discussions. His personality came with many facets as he “minded his own business” one minute, then stirred up harmless controversy the next and this is what will truly be missed.

Loved ones that have cleared the path for Robert are both set of grandparents, his father, Robert Charles McLane Sr.; sisters, Joyce L. and Barbara J. McLane; brother Larry D. McLane Sr.; Step-father Curtis D. Jennings Sr.; and brother-in-law Jessie T. Baucom. Robert leaves to cherish his memory his mother; Lessie Mae Jennings, of Holland, OH; daughter; Honie Lynn McLane, of Toledo, OH sons; Chandler Harris, of Toledo, OH; Robert DeShawn (Keyonndra) McLane, Sr., of Apollo Beach, FL, and Terell of Chicago, IL. brothers; Carl D.
