Bonnie F Cook, age 70, passed away Sunday November 20, 2022. She was born to the late Walter and Viola McGuigan on May 23, 1952. Bonnie was predeceased by her loving husband of 20 years, William P Cook. Among her survivors are her step children William P Cook (Lynn) and Donna Kubicki (Mark). Grandchildren Bill Cook and Jessica Cook, great grandchild William Cook. Sister-in- Law Angie Cook. Nephews Todd Faude (ELeni), John Mern (Lisa), Joe Mern, Leslie Cook. Nieces Deidre Guadagno (Joe), Mary Balint (Rich), Karen Janhsen (Carl), Margaret Ross(Dave) and Suzanne Tartaglia (Tom).

Bonnie visited Prince Edward Island every year from the time she was 9 months old until the later years. She was loved by all the extended family and many friends from the Hunter River-St. Anne’s Parish. Family members include Agatha and Thomas Evans, Mary (deceased), Tannis Harrison (Don), Shauna Rae Saroufim (Marc), Jim Evans, Viola Evans-Murley(Richard deceased), Walter Evans, Gerald Evans (deceased),Lillian Mitchell and all their children. Bonnie adored PEI and they loved her dearly.

Bonnie grew up in Little Neck, NY. She graduated from St John’s University and then started her banking career at Queens County Savings Bank. She quickly advanced to Vice President at Reliance Federal Savings Bank. Bonnie moved to Maine when her husband retired in 1993 where she continued her education at the University of Machias and graduated with a masters in psychology. Her love for animals found her volunteering every chance she got at the local animal shelter. It was no surprise some of the fur babies ended up being permanent residents in her home. Bonnie worked as the TRIO director for Washington County Community College in Calais Maine until moving back to New York in 2006. She continued working in education at Queensborough Community College as Director of Student Learning Center. She absolutely loved this job, especially working with the all the tutors who were like her second family. Bonnie truly made a difference in the lives of hundreds of students over the years. She was so proud of the incredible success the program contributed to the school.

Bonnie faced debilitating health issues over the last few years but always remained strong, resilient, and courageous overcoming many challenges. She was and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life to the fullest and not letting anything get in her way. While it’s tragic to think about Bonnie leaving us too soon, she left behind a lifetime of memories that we can celebrate and cherish.
