Bobby Ray Mixon

<p>Mr. Bobby R. Mixon was born September 23, 1954 in Georgianna, Alabama to the union of Mr. Eugene Mixon and Ethel Owens. He made his transition from this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 12:30 a.m., at Flower Hospital Toledo, Ohio, in the presence of his devoted wife and children. </p><p><br></p><p>Bobby's family moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1955, when he was just a year old. He attended Washington Elementary, Robinson Junior High School, and was a proud 1973 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School. After graduating, he worked as a short order cook at Raceway Park. He moved to Detroit with his family and worked at the Eastern Market with his Uncle "Skeet".</p><p><br></p><p>Bobby joined the United States Army in 1975. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for "Marksman M16". He received and Honorable Discharge in 1979. Bobby worked as a warehouseman at M&amp;M Restaurant Supply Company, and retired after 30 years. He received several awards for his work ethic. After retiring, he worked as a home care aid for Family Services of NWO for 11 years, then retiring in 2016.</p><p><br></p><p>On June 24, 2000, Bobby married the love of his life, Lorene Harris. Even though it rained hard that day, Bobby said that it was the best day of his life. He was so happy, he made a beautiful life for his loving, devoted wife. He would say, "if she pack her bags, I'm packing mine too!" They were always together until the very end.</p><p><br></p><p>Bobby was devoted to his Dallas Cowboys and an avid Michigan fan.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a foster parent for 20 years with the Lucas County Children Services. He loved little kids. Bobby loved everyone and would give you the shirt off of his back (with his wife's okay). He took pride in his home , and loved a well-manicured lawn. He would cut the grass for hours because he had to go over it twice. Bobby loved his beard, and the only one who could touch it was Clyde Kynard, his barber of 30 years.</p><p><br></p><p>Bobby loved his "mancave", and if you were one of the ones to happen to get down there, that was an adult decision, and was not his fault. Bobby loved fishing and would fish for hours if he could, with his bestfriend, RB, and his brother, Duke.</p><p><br></p><p>Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Eugen and Ethel Mixon; brother, Jay Mixon; sister-in-law, Betty Mixon; and best cousin/friend, Thomas Harris.</p><p><br></p><p>He leaves to cherish many precious memories that God allowed them to share his wife of 20 years, Lorene Mixon; 8 children, Robert K. Mixon, Marquetta N Price, Anthony H. Turner, Adria K. Turner, Manta A. Harris, Travion M. Harris, Samaiya J. Mixon, and Heaven J. Mixon; 2 brothers, Zollie (Early0 Mixon and Novell Mixon.8 grandchildren, Ma'Rya Ma'Kya, Genesis, Josiah, Aiden, Adrea "PaPa", Ranaya, and Amadya; special brother-in-law, Steve Harris; sisters for life, Verlinda McCorry, Cyncere Russell, Renith Spicer, and Mary Strong; special friends, Robert and Yvone King, Ron Bourner, Eric Walker, Sam Fitch, and Loran Moore; mother-in-law, Lula Richardson; and a host of relatives and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to: Tabitha Mixon, RN (Bobby's niece)</p><p>Alicia Mells, RN at Toledo Hospital</p><p>Hickman Center Palliative Care Nurses, Gretchen and Amanda</p><p>Ohioan Nursing Staff, Diane Strayer, RN</p><p>Flower Hospital 4th Floor ICU Nurse Staff</p>
