Syless Griswold Obituary

Mrs. Syless (Scott) Griswold affectionately known as “Grams” went to be with the Lord on January 16th 2021 while in the University of Toledo Medical College at the loving age of 84. She was the last living sibling of 14. She was born May 12th 1936 in Drew, Mississippi to the late Andrew Scott (Maudie) Whittington. At a young age she moved to Toledo with her sister Myrtis (Scott) Smith who cared for her and her other siblings until they were of an age to care for themselves. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Indiana Baptist Church. Syless attended Jesup W. Scott High School. She later married Isaac Griswold on December 2, 1957 and together they had 6 children.

Syless was given the nickname “Slick” during her prime years of life and for those that called her “Slick” know her well. She worked for head start for 15 years where she was an aid on the school bus. She was a nurturing woman who not only cared for her own children but willing to care for other children as well. She was always happy to see and spend time with her grandchildren, great grand-children, and great great grand-children which really highlighted her day. She LOVED to listen to her Blues music on Saturday mornings, play bingo, and cook. She was notorious for her fried corn, fried ribs with gravy, and peanut butter cookies. She was always willing to cook for her family and others and WE will be forever grateful for those memories.

Syless was preceded in death by both parents, Sisters; Lenora Davis, Ethelrine Cooley of Detroit , MI, Myrtis Smith, Susie Hampton, Georgia Mae Brownlee of Stockton, CA, Adlean Howard.
