Ardella Ree Quirles

Ardella Ree (Arnold) Quirles departed this world for sweet eternal rest in heaven on Thursday, December 31, 2020.

She was born to Elnora (Sykes) Arnold and Henry Remley on July 23, 1950 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Ardella accepted Christ at an early age and attended Greater Mount Calvary in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She attended area schools and graduated from Coleman High School in 1968. She enrolled at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she majored in Business Administration. Ardella received her Bachelor’s degree in 1972 and shortly after graduation, she moved to Toledo, Ohio to begin her career.

Over her career of 50 plus years, Ardella worked at various companies including Lily Tulip, Owens-Illinois, Key Bank and her last 17 years with Heartland Healthcare Services. Her integrity, work ethic, loyalty and no-nonsense work style, gained her great respect and friendships amongst her colleagues.

She married Ptlemy Quirles of Detroit, Michigan in 1977. Then, on January 2, 1979 Ardella gave birth to her only child, Quiana Cordell Quirles. After she and Ptlemy parted ways, she raised Quiana with the help of a great village of family and friends.

Ardella was a member of the People’s Missionary Baptist Church for many years serving in the church choir and as Church Clerk. After Pastor Alvin Curry, her uncle, passed away, she moved her membership to help establish Servant’s Heart Christian Church under the leadership of Bishop G. Frank Sherman. Ardella served as Church Clerk until her health and the coronavirus pandemic prevented her from attending service.

She was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer in July 2020 and underwent chemotherapy treatment until the disease spread further in her body. Her faith did not allow fear to overcome her nor make her helpless.
