Mae Kathryn Spearman

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 7:00pm - 9:00pm, at the House of Day Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 11:00am, preceded by a 10:00am Wake, at Friendship Baptist Church, 5301 Nebraska Ave, Bishop Duane C. Tisdale, officiating. Mae K “Kat” Spearman passed away suddenly and peacefully, Saturday morning, April 9, 2016, at 82. Born on May 8, 1933 in Texarkana, AR, she was the daughter of Gracie and Caesar Walker. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Otisville, MI for over 30 years, serving on the Nurses Guild. After relocating to Toledo, Ohio, in 2004, she became a member of Friendship Baptist Church, serving on the Mother’s Board. She was a passionate, loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She touched many lives with her warmth, wisdom and generosity. “Ladybug”, as some affectionately called her, made it her mission to receive her High School diploma, at the age of 50, after retiring from Hurley Medical Center with 30 years of service. She and her late granddaughter “Buffy” graduated high school together. She was an active member of the Federation of the Blind Bowler’s League, Flint Chapter, a Friend of the Library in Genessee, MI. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking. Her greatest pleasure came from being with her children and grandchildren. "Kat" was preceeded in death by her parents, Ceasar and Gracie Walker, husband, Milton Spearman, granddaughters, Lyntonia “Buffy’ Walker and Farrah Walker, siblings, Margie Walker, Lieutenant Walker, Ceasar Walker Jr., Sataria Walker and Beverly Walker. She leaves to cherish her memories, children, Farrell (Jerry) Walker of Shreveport, LA, Karen J. Moore, Milton J. Spearman and Michelle (Benard) Williams of Toledo, OH; grandchildren: Ada S.Walker, of Atlanta, GA, Gabrielle S. Mills and Jacob A. Mills, of Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Amarianna, Amonee, Asia Mae and Asher; siblings, Arthur (Ann) Walker of Toledo, OH, Delores Glover, of Columbus, OH, and Betty Huntley of Toledo, OH; sister-in-laws, Gloria Walker, of Toledo,OH, Bennie Mae Spearman and Maerenna Turner of Kiblah, AR., and a host of family and friends.
