James Bernard Russell died suddenly and entered into the Heavenly Kingdom on August 3, 2015, at his home in Dublin, California at the age of 44. James was born in Toledo, Ohio to Ida Mae and Evans Robert Russell on December 10, 1970. James graduated from Scott High School, Class of 1989, and studied at The University of Toledo, Ohio, before enlisting in The United States Army in 1990. James had completed 24 years of service to his country which included two tours of duty overseas in Iraq, and had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. This month he would have celebrated his 25th year anniversary of service. He had been talking about retiring to Houston, Texas, James met and married his adoring wife, Tina Charles, who is also serving in the U.S. Army. James hated running, but had to. He had a passion for playing poker and bingo, vacationing and sight-seeing, posting on Facebook, playing practical jokes and just being fun, goofy, and most of all keeping in touch and spending time with his family and friends. James was a very compassionate person, always ready to lend a helping hand to others, listening to and taking time to understand situations and offering solutions and advice, showing how he sincerely cared about people. He also especially loved interacting with and being around children. They were his youth. James was preceded in death by his father, Evans; brothers, Robert and twins Eric and Andre; aunt and uncles, Ida and Willie Armstrong Jr. and Curtis Lee Johnson. James is survived by his loving wife, Tina (Charles) Russell; brother, David Evans-Therese Potion, Columbus, Ohio; sister, Pamela Rena; mother and stepfather, Ida Mae (Johnson) and James McBrayer Jr.; grandmother, Charity Mae (Darden) Johnson; nephew, Deonte (Krontayia) Moss; nieces, Ranisha Rena Moss, Desiree Dessi Moss, Teresa Russell and Erin Marie Mosley; greatnephews, Donald, Mario and David Jr.; great-nieces, Shaniyah, Nakiyah, Cassidy, Madison, Khalia, Ray Lynn and Hayden; aunt, Addie Vance, Mississippi; uncle, Willie Henry; great-uncle, Ambrosia; step-grandfather, Gene Gunn, Mississippi; sisters-in-laws, Angela Martin, Jacinta Martin, Monica Martin, and Ayanna Martin; brothers-in-law, Jordan Charles, Lawrence Charles and Anthony Moss; parentsin-law, Maureen Charles and Angel Martin, and a host of many other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives and friends.
