<p>Elder Jesse Lee Hicks Jr., age 64, departed this life Wednesday, January 14, 2015, surrounded by loving family. He was born June 14, 1950, to Dorothy and Jessie Hicks Sr. He was married to Jessie Dean and from this union two children were born, Ke'Lee and Jesse III. Jesse was a graduate of Scott High School and attended the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He held the office of Minister of Music for Thomas Temple COGIC, Calvary Baptist Church, and St. James COGIC. He was the first African American to take a choir to the Masonic Auditorium where they performed to sold out crowds. He was also a former President of the State of Ohio Gospel Music Workshop of America. Elder Hicks was dedicated to saving souls through Ministry of the word of God and the Ministry of music. He leaves to cherish his memory, his father, Jessie Hicks Sr.; daughter, Ke'Lee (Howard-Omari) Pernell; son, Jesse (La Tisha) Hicks III; grandchildren, Jarrel, Jesse IV, Daishya, and Omari; loving sisters and brothers, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015, 6 p.m. at St. James The Armory Church, proceeded by 4-6 p.m. visitation.</p>
