We are sad to announce the passing of loving husband and father, Barry G. Govenor, (75), of Brentwood on November 21, 2022.

Born on November 5, 1947 to Emil J. Govenor and Phyllis (Lynch) Govenor, (both now deceased) in Charleroi, PA, Barry grew up with two brothers, Ronald, (deceased), and Tim. He graduated from Charleroi High School in 1965 and from California State University in 1969 with a degree in nuclear medicine technology.

Throughout his life, Barry was very active in the American Youth Hostels, the Pittsburgh Poetry Exchange, and the Brentwood Library Board. He loved nature, was a prolific and published poet, frequent letter to the editor contributor and avid follower of current events.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Mervosh-Govenor, his daughters, Constance Stover and Heather Govenor, his stepsons, Matthew Mervosh and Jason Mervosh, and his grandchildren, Nathaniel Stover, Jenna Mervosh, Michael Wojdak, and Abigail Stover.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 6-8 pm and on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 10 am - 12 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 pm on Monday. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
