Derrick Garmon Obituary

Derrick Richie Garmon, 57, passed away February 23, 2013, in St. Vincent Hospital. He was born to Bruce Jones and Vera Colbert. Derrick played football and was All City for Rogers High School where he later graduated from. After graduation, he continued his education at Bowling Green University. Derrick worked as a Construction Worker for R. L. Williams, as a Forklift driver for High Tech. Derrick was a family oriented man with a big heart He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 34 years, Janet "Burrs"; daughter, Brenda (Joe); son, Derrick (Gina); granddaughters, Calina, Christina, Johna, Jamya; parents, Willie and Verna Garmon; sisters, Marlene (Herbert) Sandridge, Maxine Crittenden, Marilyn Witherspoon and Thearea Fellows; brothers, Rev. James Earl (Vera) Garmon and Willie Earl (Gwendolyn) Garmon, Jr., and Harold Jones; half-brothers, Kenneth and Henry Robertson; brothers-in-law, Karl (Wonda) Burroughs, Marlon (Carol) Burroughs, Kim (Esther) Burroughs, Anthony (Rhonda) Burroughs, and Keith Watson; special life time friend, James Pirtle; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a 10:00 a.m., at Cornerstone Church, 1520 S Reynolds Rd, Pastor David Banks, Officiating.
