Services are 2:00pm Saturday, February 18, 2013 at Friendly M.B. Church, 1305 Parkside Blvd., wake services will be Friday from 4 to 6:00pm at The House of Day. Thomas A. Hayes, Jr., 76, of Toledo, OH, passed away February 9, 2013. He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on July 15, 1936 to Thomas A. Hayes, Sr. and Mozell Hagans. He resided in Chicago, IL for some time, but spent many years as a resident of Toledo. Thomas served nine years in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed for 18 years at General Motors as a Supervisor. Throughout his years, Thomas enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, bowling, bike riding, basketball, and golf. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He also delighted in serving in the church. He served as a deacon for many years at Friendly Missionary Baptist Church and was a deacon at Abundant Life Baptist Church under Pastor Garland Files until his passing. Thomas is survived by sons, Carlos “Butch” (Karon) Hayes, Kevin (Tanya) Hayes, Tynote Hayes, and Jermaine (Hannah) Hayes; daughters, Barbara Exater and Kelley Smith; sister, Thelma Taylor; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Goddaughter, Zenobia McFall; special friends Marilyn Jones and Ethel Pettaway; and his brother in Christ, James “Jimmy“ Ellis, Jr. Visitation is Friday, February 15, 2013 from 4-6pm at House of Day Funeral Home. Funeral Service 2pm Saturday at Friendly Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 Parkside Blvd, Toledo.
